What are the benefits of a CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment?
- Improve the skin’s texture and pigment of scars
- Eliminates age spots
- Reduces the size of your pores
- Tightens and evens out the tone of your skin, decreasing sagging and uneven skin
- Diminished wrinkles and lines around your lips and eyes
What is a CO2 Fractional Laser?
The CO2 Fractional Laser features uses the longest wavelength of any other laser, allowing it to penetrate deeper into the skin to rebuild collagen, fix deeper wrinkles, and eliminate acne scars. It can be used as a spot treatment for the unwelcome signs of aging such as crows’ feet (wrinkles around the eyes) and for full facial rejuvenation of sagging skin on the face and neck. This laser treatment is commonly used for moderate to deep wrinkles and skin damage.
How does the CO2 Fractional Laser work?
The CO2 Fractional Laser uses the standard CO2 laser beam and divides it into thousands of tiny pixels of light. These small pieces of light penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin allowing for microscopic intervals of “treated” and “untreated skin cells. The treated cells go through the healing process causing new collagenesis in both the treated and untreated skin cells. Conversely, the untreated skin cells aid in the healing process more quickly and effectively.
What conditions can the CO2 Fractional Laser treat?
- Scars, especially acne scars that other lasers haven’t helped
- Severe photo damage, caused by too much exposure to the sun
- Deep wrinkles and lines, due to aging
- Uneven skin tone and sagging skin
- Actinic Keratoses, pre-cancerous growths
- Texture and blotchiness on necks and chest
Who is an ideal candidate for CO2 Fractional Laser treatments?
- Has advanced skin damage and wrinkling, due to sun exposure
- Wants to correct uneven pigmentation and age spots
- Desires to eliminate their photo damage and possess a more youthful, even skin tone
- Suffers from severe acne scarring, which other treatments haven’t helped
What does the procedure entail?
You should plan to be at the office for about 2 hours. Generally, around 60 minutes before the procedure, a technician will apply a numbing cream to your face so that you won’t feel anything. The actual procedure can vary from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on how many areas you’re getting done. You won’t feel much other than a slight prickly sensation and, a pinch now and then.
What does recovery and aftercare look like?
Generally, you’ll need around a week to recover so aim to schedule your first treatment during a less busy time at work. Typically, your skin will feel swollen, raw and red the first few days so it’s important to follow our aftercare instructions carefully. It’s also recommended to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and avoid make-up. You should look more like yourself within a week, but it takes about three months for the full results to be fully revealed.
How many treatments do you typically need?
We prefer you start with one session. Sometimes, you may need a touch-up session in 4-8 months. The recovery time reduces with each additional session to around 4 to 6 days, instead of 7 to 10 days.
